Is this space suitable for beginners / my fitness level?

Absolutely — and honestly, this is one of the most common worries people have before their first visit, so you're not alone in asking.

The space and training here are built around you. This is not a generic big box gym. Whether you've never picked up a kettlebell or you've been training for years, everyone is met where they are in their journey. Beginners get taught the fundamentals with real attention; more advanced members get pushed appropriately.

There's no "floor" you need to meet before walking in. A lot of our members started as complete beginners, and the coaching is exactly what makes that possible — you're never just thrown into something over your head.

What are your hours, and can I try a free class or session first?

Hours are 6 AM - 10 PM Daily, including most holidays. The gym is an un-supervised facility, so you have the ability to come and go as you please throughout the year.

There are options to try a class or session for free, along with trial passes to the gym to see if they are good fit. Please contact the gym for details.

What should I bring / wear for my first visit?

Come in comfortable, breathable workout clothes and sneakers you can move in — nothing fancy required. We recommend:

  • Athletic shoes with good support, though some of your work may be barefoot!

  • A water bottle — we've got water and cups, but feel free to bring your own

  • A small towel, but again towels are provided!

  • A positive, open mind — that's honestly the most important thing you can bring on day one!

What makes you different from other gyms nearby?

At Refinery, you're not just handed a keycard and left to figure it out. Everything is designed for function - the space has been distilled down to what you need, so you’re not paying for equipment you’ll never use. The programming is designed — around you: your movement history, your goals, your limitations. You're not doing a generic class or wandering a floor of machines; you're following a plan someone actually thought through for you.

It's also a small, tight-knit community — not a room of strangers on their phones between sets. People here know your name, notice when you're not around, and show up for each other.

And the space itself reflects that: it's built for real strength and conditioning work — not just machines and mirrors.
